The Importance of Building Soft Skills: What the Research Says.

During Synthesis Summer, thousands of kids from around the world will join together to practice strategic thinking in a dynamic environment.

Here’s the thing: They’ll learn much, much more than that.

Synthesis scenarios are training grounds for what psychologists refer to as “soft skills,” or “professional skills.” These include critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.

Since 1918, research from Harvard University, the Carnegie Foundation and Stanford Research Center concluded that 85% of job success comes from soft skills.

That hasn’t changed. Today’s research confirms that soft skills are crucial competencies and irreplaceable in a future of rapidly advancing technology.

But are schools doing enough to develop these skills in our children? The answer is no.

The good news? Synthesis does. With consistent practice and supportive coaching, your child will form the strategic skills that apply everywhere: in academics, sports, performance, and social settings.
