Synthesis camps are designed for students ages 8-14 who are comfortable participating in English and have basic tech skills, like using a computer and navigating a browser. They tend to be a good fit for students who are curious, willing to try new things, and open to working with other kids in small groups.
Your child doesn't need to be outgoing or confident to start, but they do need to be willing to participate and give the experience a real try.
In camp, students learn by doing. Instead of listening to lectures, they work together in small groups on interactive challenges and talk through their thinking with teammates and a coach.
During sessions, students can expect to:
Each camp is built around a specific theme or experience, so the exact activities vary, but the experience is always active, social, and hands-on.
We group students into teams based on a number of factors, including age (8-10 and 11-14) and experience level. Our goal is to create teams that are balanced, age-appropriate, and well-positioned to collaborate effectively.
Within those divisions, we mix players strategically to reflect real-world conditions:
Join the session at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time so your child can be matched onto a team and get started right away.
Each week includes three unique sessions:
Each session lasts about one hour.
We recommend that students attend at least one session from each two-day block to get the full camp experience. Repeat any session for extra practice.
There's no minimum time commitment or required attendance. If you need to miss a session, no problem — the curriculum is flexible, and you can jump back in anytime.
We offer a wide range of session times to serve families around the world, so you'll see options that span many hours. Just pick the times that work best for your family's routine.
Each one-hour camp session begins on the hour during the range listed on our schedule.
When you register to attend a session, you'll see session times in your local time, based on your device settings.
Some session times may look unusual (like midnight) because they're meant for families in different parts of the world. You can safely ignore those and choose the session that works best for your family.
Progress in Synthesis Camp looks a little different from traditional programs.
Instead of grades or reports, students are encouraged to reflect on their own growth, noticing how they think, collaborate, and respond to challenges over time.
After each session, they consider what worked, what didn't, and what they want to try next. Over the course of camp, these reflections help them build a clearer understanding of themselves as problem-solvers and teammates.
You'll likely notice this growth in how your child talks about their experience: the ideas they share, the strategies they try, and the confidence they build as they take on new challenges.
For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer that meets our minimum technical requirements. iPads are also supported using our official app.
Phones and Android devices are not supported.
Before camp starts, please check that your device meets our minimum specs. You can find the full, up-to-date details here: Minimum Tech Specs.
